About Us

Through the marvel of the internet the good people of Trinity United Methodist Church of Charles City, IA welcome you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When Jesus said in the Gospel of Matthew that the "two shall become one" he was referring to the union of husband and wife but yet the words of Jesus apply to Trinity United Methodist Church as well. On May 15, 1968 one of the most destructive tornadoes in Iowa history tore through Charles City. Thirteen lives were lost and approximately 1200 homes, 265 businesses, three schools and eight churches were heavily damaged or destroyed. Two of the churches destroyed were Central United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church. On April 30, 1969 the congregations of those two United Methodist Churches merged to become Central United Methodist Church. Construction on a new church facility was begun in 1971 and the new Central United Methodist Church congregation held its consecration service in the new building on Sunday, September 10, 1972. A little over a year later on October 3, 1973, the congregation voted to change the name of Central United Methodist Church to Trinity United Methodist Church.

As a part of the larger United Methodist Church family the purpose of Trinity United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and we would like to invite you to join us in that exciting mission.

The Sacraments

Holy Communion is celebrated during worship on the first Sunday of each month. As a United Methodist congregation our celebration at the Lord's Table is open to all Christians.

Baptism is our response of faith and love to a God whose divine word to us is "Yes, you are mine, I claim you." Baptism is initiation into Christ's Church and not into a denomination therefore as a United Methodist congregation we recognize the baptism of all Christian denominations. If you would like to speak to someone about baptism for you or your child please contact Pastor Jim.

Our Beliefs

As a part of the larger United Methodist Church family around the world Trinity United Methodist Church holds to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We believe that the Bible is our authoritative guide for matters of faith and living in this world and that God's grace is available for all.

Our Purpose

Our mission, based upon the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
